UNDERSTANDING JESUS

“THE WORD BECAME FLESH AND MADE HIS DWELLING AMONG US. WE HAVE SEEN HIS GLORY, THE GLORY OF THE ONE AND ONLY SON, WHO CAME FROM THE FATHER, FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH”
– JOHN 1:14

Before I had even ridden a motorcycle, I knew that I liked them. I liked how they looked, I liked how they sounded, and I liked the idea of them. I read about motorcycles, and I talked to people about them…I had a pretty good understanding of everything pertaining to the entire motorcycle industry.

But I still didn’t understand some things.

How does a motorcycle not tip over? How exactly does countersteering work? If I come to a stoplight, do I downshift gradually or do I come to a complete stop and then downshift?

These were all the questions I asked myself, and while I got answers to all of them, I still didn’t quite understand. I knew the only way I was truly going to understand was if I rode a motorcycle myself, and experienced it first hand.

There are many reasons why Jesus came to earth, with the biggest being to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. But I think one of the reasons Christ came was so that the people of earth could experience God.

In John 1:14 it says: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

See before Christ came to earth, God was still somewhat of a mystery to a lot of people. He did a lot of communicating through prophets, and while ancient texts were being written, they were not widely read. God to a lot of people was some being out there that they feared, but didn’t understand.

Christ’s arrival on earth changed that.

When the Word became flesh, that meant that Jesus came to this earth so people could understand God in a way they never could before. The mystery of God was solved because of Jesus. He taught us how to think so that your thoughts are in tune with God’s thoughts. He showed us how to live so that our lives can be pleasing to our Heavenly Father, and so we can live according to his will. And Christ became the perfect sacrifice and became the path for us to live with God forever in Heaven.

I had to experience aspects of my motorcycle in order for me to understand it. God is the same way. You can rad about him, you can ask people about him, but until you accept Jesus as your savior, you won’t fully experience God. And the best part is, all you have to do is ask!

BEING BOTHERED

Here’s the conundrum…my wife is two weeks from her due date, and I was on call this weekend with my regular job, BUT, it was also one of the best days this summer had produced. Mid 70’s, bright blue sky, and Rage KaGe ready to put some miles on. What’s a boy to do. Compromise, that’s what you do.

PEACE

PEACE

Have you ever experienced true peace? Sometimes you only feel it for a minute, sometimes longer. No matter how long it is, it is one of the best feelings in the world. A lot of times I do not experience true peace. Don’t get me wrong though, I experience happiness and a lot of different emotions, but very rarely true peace.

My first motorcycle was a beast. It was loud, it was fast, and it was a hack job. I think I fixed it more than I rode it. The speedometer didn’t work, the brake light didn’t work, not to mention you had to take half the bike apart to reach the battery and other vital components of a motorcycle.
