PEACE

“MAY THE GOD OF HOPE FILL YOU WITH ALL JOY AND PEACE AS YOU TRUST IN HIM, SO THAT YOU MAY OVERLFOW WITH HOPE BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT”
– ROMANS 15:13

Have you ever experienced true peace? Sometimes you only feel it for a minute, sometimes longer. No matter how long it is, it is one of the best feelings in the world. A lot of times I do not experience true peace. Don’t get me wrong though, I experience happiness and a lot of different emotions, but very rarely true peace.

There was one time though that I can still vividly remember an overwhelming peace while riding. It was about ten at night and I was riding a normally busy road in MInneapolis. But at this time of night, it was just me and a handful of other cars. I had my earbuds in, and yes I know that’s dangerous and borderline illegal, but I had them in and instead of listening to hard rock like I normally do, I put on a Spotify playlist title “Atmospheric Lush”. It’s basically a lot of European down temp songs.

I remember riding in the cool breeze, listening to the relaxing music, and not having a care in the world. The moon almost lit the way home with it’s brightness. For 40 minutes, I experienced true peace. I felt completely in tune with my bike, nature, and most overwhelming, God.

In this life, finding true peace seems to be more and more difficult. There are bad things happening in the world, and there are bad things that happen to us in our personal lives. How can we have peace when there is so much to worry about?

Romans 15:13 it says: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

If you’re looking to find your peace from this world, you won’t. If you’re looking to find your peace from within yourself, you won’t. Tru peace and true joy come only from God. And if you want it, all you have to do is ask.

That doesn’t mean that we will have true joy and peace 24/7 because we are still sinful people living in a fallen world. But if you talk to God, form that relationship with him, read the bible, you will begin to notice peace in otherwise difficult situations. There’s a reason it’s called a peace that passes all understanding. If you ask, God will send his spirit to give you that peace. And if we live our lives with our hearts in tuned with God’s spirit, we become living examples of God’s peace and joy and hope. And that is something the world really needs.

BEING BOTHERED

Here’s the conundrum…my wife is two weeks from her due date, and I was on call this weekend with my regular job, BUT, it was also one of the best days this summer had produced. Mid 70’s, bright blue sky, and Rage KaGe ready to put some miles on. What’s a boy to do. Compromise, that’s what you do.

UNDERSTANDING JESUS

Before I had even ridden a motorcycle, I knew that I liked them. I liked how they looked, I liked how they sounded, and I liked the idea of them. I read about motorcycles, and I talked to people about them…I had a pretty good understanding of everything pertaining to the entire motorcycle industry.

My first motorcycle was a beast. It was loud, it was fast, and it was a hack job. I think I fixed it more than I rode it. The speedometer didn’t work, the brake light didn’t work, not to mention you had to take half the bike apart to reach the battery and other vital components of a motorcycle.
